ASHUR (SRC#1950) in VIRGINIA's story
REQUIREMENTS TO ADOPT THIS DOG:

1. EXPERIENCE WITH THE BREED
2. ANOTHER CANINE IN THE ADOPTIVE HOME WHICH HE CAN RELATE TO AND PLAY WITH.
My name is ASHUR (SRC#1950) and I am a  purebred male Standard Schnauzer.  I was born  November 8. 2017. I weigh approximately 34.5 pounds, am micro-chipped, have all required vaccinations, have not yet been neutered and cannot be neutered until I am a minimum of one year old because of my growth plates.  I will not develop correctly if I am altered too early so my adopter must wait about having me neutered until my testicles have dropped and I am fully mature. This will be stipulated in my adoption contract. My breeder has me health tested, plus SRC had me examined by one of their approved vets and I was found to be healthy.  I am already started on Heart-worm preventative and currently on Frontline Plus for fleas and ticks.  Once I am 6 months old, I can start on Bravecto which is the minimum age for that flea/tick product. I have a retained baby tooth on the right upper side and SRC is working to get an appointment to have that removed.
My  foster family will evaluate me for a minimum of two weeks. I came to  their home on Sunday, April 29, 2018 and will be available for adoption 2 weeks from that date.  Before coming to my foster parents, I lived on a farm so I was not leash trained or obedience trained yet I did live indoors with my mom so I was learning how to be  house-broken and am very loving. Still I am ALL puppy!  My foster mom says:
ASHUR is delightful! He has a great disposition and did well on our walk for the first time. He is house broken so far, but we let him out a lot. He has the typical puppy behaviors-chewing, exploring, and  does not respond to any commands yet. He will need a training program asap. He does exhibit strong separation anxiety. He bonded with us immediately, but cries when apart (from either one of us), even closed door. I think he is missing his siblings. He seems to be teething, and we think he has some mouth discomfort. He cried during night, and think it was his teeth. He chewed on a rope toy and it seemed to help.
He LOVES to play ball now, and loves to play in general. He has not shown any aggression toward Rocky (their Mini) or people. He appears to like water, drinking and sticking his face in a squirting hose! He is very large! He probably would do well on an active family."
Please remember Ashur will love to chase anything that runs so he might not be cat friendly since he chased squirrels and anything else that moved on the farm. He had a very happy life there yet his mom had to find a good home for me so SRC is honored to help her.  His  current  foster home has gone through SRC's approval process and has been associated with SRC for years. They are familiar with the working dog breed, either Standard Schnauzers or Giants.   This  foster family is located in  Richmond, VA . Once  adopted Ashur will still require basic training such as leash training, etc.

 (SRC#1950) ASHUR' s   Story
ASHUR with this unique identification number: (SRC#1950) came into SRC custody on Friday, 4-28-18, and his foster family will be evaluating him for 2 weeks.  Ashur is vetted other than the neuter because he is not yet old enough for that, and soon will be ready for adoption. Once evaluated this Standard Schnauzer puppy will be prepared for adoption by his foster parents who have gone thru our approval process .   Ashur   is not yet Neutered, yet up to date on required shots, micro-chipped, and health tested plus examined by an SRC vet. Neutering will be the responsibility of the adopter and the stipulations will be written into their adoption contract.  Ashur should be neutered after he is one year old.
When ready for adoption this dog will be health tested, de-wormed, required vaccinations  up to date,  and micro-chipped. His adoption contract must be signed and returned to SRC before ASHUR may be picked up and his donation must be paid before he will be released to his adoptive parents.   It is anticipated that this dog will be released for adoption by the same date as the completion of the Evaluation (MAY 12, 2018)  and the completion of his adoption paperwork. The date of release is left to the discretion of the SRC Core Team.

PLEASE READ PRIOR TO APPLYING
When ready for adoption, this canine will  have been evaluated for at least two weeks by loving SRC foster parents who will be able to give the adoptive parents  their opinion about the demeanor of the family companion  prior to the adoptive parents   finalizing   their adoption of this canine.  All our SRC volunteers strive to do this for the well-being of their rescued canine and to assure a successful adoption. It is our worthy mission to assure that each canine rescued by SRC is placed in a loving, stable and permanent home whose family members will treat it as a beloved member of their immediate family. We are prepared to assure that all of  our rescued dogs are in great homes or we will reclaim them if necessary.
SRCs rescued dogs are  placed in foster homes throughout NC, SC, TN, and VA until they are adopted. These same states are  SRC's approved adoption areas  so please do not apply unless you live in one of these states. You must be willing to drive to the dog's foster home in order to adopt the canine. The location of each dog is listed at the bottom of its bio.
BEFORE meeting an SRC dog, you must be approved to adopt by our Placement Team. Our downloadable Adoption Application is on our web site at  /_files/SRC_APP_082013.doc      and may be submitted via email or fax (1-). You may request an Adoption Application to email address:  adoptions@schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas.org
Upon receipt of your application, a vet reference check will be done and if the vet check is satisfactory then a home visit will be done. The entire process may take up to seven days, depending on your location and the number of applications being processed at that time.
Please plan on welcoming your new dog into your home within two weeks after approval. We cannot hold dogs because this limits our intake of others in need; SRC adopts them out on a first-come, first-serve basis based on a completed approved adoption process. If you are unable to accept your adopted dog within this time frame then SRC will go to the next approval and place with someone able to give the rescue a home within the proper time frame.
SRC does not ordinarily adopt its dogs to families with children under ten years of age. Exceptions are sometimes made on a case by case basis but only when the dog has been raised with children and the children are very respectful of animals.  This is for the protection of the dogs and for the protection of the children.
Procedures will be explained to you at the time of approval regarding donation and contract. Your donation is made in honor of the adoption of your new family companion and is never a purchase of an animal.  This tax deductible donation goes forward to help incoming rescued dogs. Our average total expense per dog includes but is not limited to the list of  expenses shown below.
Here is a break-down of the average expenses spent on SRC dogs to assure they remain healthy and happy as they are prepared for adoption:

SRC  wants to thank you for your interest in our rescued dogs. We put our heart and souls into saving their lives.  Often the medical expense, time and effort expended to help these dogs, far outweighs the minimal donation requested to adopt these innocent ones.  Please understand SRC is limited in the number of dogs in our safe haven and if you are not selected to adopt one of them, it is not a reflection on your ability to provide a good home for a canine, simply our lack of ability to provide for the overwhelming demand from applicants.  SRC urges you to pursue rescue -- it is definitely a worthy mission even if you do not adopt from SRC.
